Binay Kumar Awarded for his Innovations

A vision of a professor “Har Ghar – Bijlee Ghar” i.e. ‘Every House should have a Power House’

Binay Kumar of National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR), Vadodara has been bestowed with two Awards ‘IPO Motivational Awards’ and ‘IPO Special Mention Awards’ during ‘National Intellectual Property (IP) Award 2015’ held at New Delhi on 24.04.2015.

As an Individual Inventor, his invention has resulted in the grant of 5 important patents during the last 5 years.

Kumar has the grant of 5 important patents for the inventions:

  • Interlocked Train Stopper (ITS),
  • Safety Locking System (SLS),
  • Electrogravitomechanical Relay (EGM Relay),
  • Impulse Switch (IS)’ and
  • Earthquake Alarm and Advance Warning System (EAAWS).

There is one pending patent application for the invention ‘Binay Water Wave Power Plant and Self Power Driven Ship’ and he is hopeful that will get patent granted for this invention.

The Indian Intellectual Property Office confers annual National Intellectual Property (IP) Awards on outstanding innovators, organizations and companies in the fields of Patents, Designs, Trademarks and Geographical Indications on the occasion of World IP Day every year. It is jointly organized by the Indian Intellectual Property Office and Confederation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CII).

Kumar is an officer of Indian Railways Service of Electrical Engineer (IRSEE) from 1999 batch and mainly worked in Western Railway and posted at EMU Workshop at Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Bhavnagar and Vadodara Divisions of Western Railway prior to the present assignment in the NAIR.
